Vianey

It was about time to add a girl to our apprenticeship program! We are excited that one of the students in our English and Education program has graduated to come on board to be an apprentice! Her name is Vianey and she has been mentored by our entrepreneur Ruth. Many of you are familiar with Ruth’s story, for those who are not, Ruth is from San Luis Rio Colorado. She has faced many surgeries to address a childhood illness that has continued to affect her in her adult life. Ruth walks with a cane and her disability impedes her ability to work a job where she is on her feet long hours. Finding a job that can fit into her lifestyle was important to her and she has learned how to run her own nail salon thanks to the support of her project through The Aloe Family entrepreneur program. Through your support we were able to build Ruth a nail salon and we are still working on her project to have working utilities in her salon. Ruth has recently become a mentor herself, teaching her skills to a new Aloe Family student, Vianey. Vianey and Ruth share similar stories in the case that Vianey has a health condition that affects her quality of life, so much so that she was not able to finish her schooling and is now looking to create a job for herself to be able to make an income and support herself. Vianey has been learning from Ruth and benefits from being able to sit while working. Enjoying the ability to be creative as a nail tech is giving the hope that self sufficiency is in Vianey’s future. We are ecstatic to see this type of full circle moment with Ruth being a mentor to Vianey as Ruth has gone through our program to learn how to run her own business as a nail tech, now having her own space and being in the position to give back to her community through this mentorship. Sharing Vianey’s story to self sufficiency begins now and we are excited to share her journey with you all. Support for kids like Vianey provides them with access to English classes, job skills opportunities, art therapy, free groceries and more. Sign up to sponsor Vianey, write her letters of encouragement, and support the education and apprenticeship programs!
